2017 salmon season

I want to thank all that came to fish with me this season. This season was a success even though challenging at times. Many nice chinook came aboard this season with the top fish around 35lbs. The 2018 season is looking good for spring with higher predictions. The rest of season is looking good as well. The books are NOW OPEN for 2018. Fall 2016 and winter 201/17

The fall season started at bouy 10 in August again this year in hopes it would have turned out to be another banner season. There were a couple good days, but with no fence or temp barrier, it made the fishing on the tough side.

Winter sturgeon Fishing Report

This winter so far has been decent for both sturgeon and been very good for steelhead. First the STURGEON. I have been fishing the Willamette River anywhere from Oregon City down through the Portland Harbour and been finding excellent numbers of big fat healthy sturgeon, my boat been getting around 30 a day most days. A variety of baits have been working with Anchovie being the top bait followed by squid and smelt. The keeper fishing above bonniville dam has been spotty for the keeper size fish,LOTS and LOTS of shakers around. Feb 8 is the last day for that up there. I will then continue catch and release till March where then I will switch over to spring chinook thru May. Now the STEELHEAD this year has been the best year for steelhead that we have seen in quite some time, lots and lots of fish all over the place from the coast to the local rivers, good numbers of fish as well, this bodes well for this coming season and is good indicator of ocean conditions.

Spring Halibut dates should be announced in the coming months . I will take names for those interested.

Fall chinook adventures

This years Fall chinook season, started off with a bang! The Columbia River was the place to be in Sept with limits daily for the boat. The grade of fish this year was’nt too shabby either with the biggest so far at about 33 lbs

Winter sturgeon

Winter sturgeon catch and release is just around the corner. I will start running these trips at the end of Nov all the way thru mid March. Lots of action on fish ranging from 3 ft up to 8ft +. All bait and tackle provided on a heated and covered boat. We will be fishing anywhere from the Willamette falls all the way down past downtown portland on the Willamette River.10991311_10153073107326838_5199001648329803089_n10409253_806559172744892_2663956753741406595_n

Late winter happenings

This winter has been rather strange weather wise, the lack of snow and cold this year will mean low water year for most of us. I have been sturgeon fishing in various locations close to Portland on the Willamette River with good success, 30 fish days have been the norm with some going to 5 1/2 ft. I will run these trips another few weeks till the spring chinook start showing well ,then I will change gear around and start going for Spring chinook around mid March or so. There have been a few caught as early as January this year
